Welcome to the
Child Advocacy Center
The Child Advocacy Center is a place for children who are victims/alleged victims of child abuse to receive support after a report of child abuse has been made. With locations in Charlotte (Dickson County), Ashland City (Cheatham County), Waverly (Humphreys County), and Dover (Stewart County) we work with police and child protection workers to talk with children in our safe and child-friendly location. We serve Cheatham, Dickson, Houston, Humphreys, and Stewart counties in Middle Tennessee.
The mission of the 23rd CAC is to serve as a safe and child-friendly center where members of the Child Protective Investigative Teams (made up of CAC staff, law enforcement, the District Attorney’s office, medical providers, Department of Children’s Services, and others as needed) can provide comprehensive services and a multi-disciplinary approach to child victims of severe sexual and physical abuse and their non-offending family members.
In support of this effort the 23rd CAC works to unite public, private and community partners to ensure the safety, health and well-being of abused children in the five counties served.
What is a Child Advocacy Center?
A Child Advocacy Center (CAC) is a child-friendly facility where multidisciplinary teams—including law enforcement, child protective services, prosecutors, and medical/mental health professionals—collaborate to investigate, treat, and support children who have experienced abuse. They provide a safe, neutral, and comfortable environment designed to minimize trauma during investigations.
